Should I apologize for yesterday’s post or just let it be? Ha!
Actually, it’s one of my favourites lately. Know why? Because I DON’T KNOW WHO WROTE IT. It’s like I was hypnotized or dreaming while I wrote it…. I read it again today, and I was, like, “whah?”! Still, I LIKED it. I really LIKED it! And, it’s rare that I really like what I write. I had NO CONTROL over that one, friends. And, isn’t that what writing and blogging’s about? This blog’s supposed to be honest, supposed to be about me — conscious(ish) or not.
Also, booHOO, I have a cold. So, I’m not only beyond exhausted, but I’m feeling LIKE ARSE to boot. And, and, AND! The rascal’s TOTALLY having a growth spurt; hence, I might as well not wear a bra, or leave the house, or blog…. I’m nursing so much I feel like I’m going to vomit. LOVE!
So, I have to thank you.
…Have to thank you for sticking around while I go through this no-sleep, disjointed, CARAZAY WRITING phase.
Yes, it is with many thanks that I give you this….THE RASCAL WITH EYES OPEN (and with the GORJ it’sgrandma):

and, THIS:

Yes…. I may be officially CARAZAY because of that wide-eyed little rascal, but, at least I have A NEW CAMERA!!! It’s a Canon. Check it I LOVE IT:

I love it! See? Look at this picture I took with MY NEW CAMERA!:

Don’t you just love how toddlers lie down to sleep, like, ANYWHERE they want? Apparently, the monkey was a little tired today….

Ahhh, he sleeps…. For the moment….
He sleeps in his new chair. I bought it for him today. Like a zombie, I haunted the aisles of Toys R’ Us until I found it…. The perfect chair for my little rascal (and, it happens to convert to a toddler chair for Miss Monkey to enjoy, too! Life doesn’t get much better than THAT):

Zzzzzz…. I’d go to sleep, too. But, HE DOESN’T FOOL ME. He’ll be up in 5 minutes for a BOOOOBIE.

Oh, and, you TOTALLY have to see this.
I’m a pretty good cook, I’d say. I mean, when I make the effort, I’m not bad. But, this lack of sleep thing is not only killing my writing, but it’s killing my cooking! I tried to make the “Tofu Nuggets” from Jessica Seinfeld’s Deceptively Delicious, and here’s what happened….
What was supposed to look like this….

Turned out…
like…
THIS….

YES, it tasted as gross as it looks. Josh-O graciously ate it. The monkey wouldn’t touch it….

I need sleep. OBVIOUSLY. And, I need to get rid of this cold….
I hope I get more than one hour tonight…. I really need that.
I’m so out of it.
And, how are YOU?

what the heck happened to your nuggets! lol Cannon camera’s are the best- good choice.
Kristen October 30th, 2007 at 12:43 am
um. yeah. Your dh is so nice to eat that;) obviously the cookbook editors did not home-kitchen test that recipe well enough.
Awesome camera, and your mom is sooo Gorg! Beautiful!
SciFi Dad October 30th, 2007 at 7:39 am
So now you and MTM are in synch, it seems, as she made the green nuggets last night as well (although hers were chicken). Tell me, did you also side it with the mashed potato/cauliflower semi-liquid goop, or was that just her?
The only deception I have found with that book is the implication that some of the items in there are intended for human consumption.
PS – Yay for you for finding a chair he’ll sleep in!
Rebecca October 30th, 2007 at 7:54 am
The tofu thing DOES look nasty.
I made french onion soup last night from scratch and after several hours of stirring my kids refused to eat it. LITTLE MONSTERS!
Look at your cute little man! Aw!

I have not tried a recipe yet and now I am getting nervous….
Glad you found a chair for the Rascal to sleep.
Papoosie Girl’s asthma has flared up so I am joining the sleep deprived and oh I am feeling it this morning.
multi-tasking mommy October 30th, 2007 at 8:16 am
Never apologize for any of your posting :)
And now, I feel better that someone else out there is having some trouble with their recipes from that book! We had the chicken nuggets last night and they were GREEN too! What’s with that?!
ali October 30th, 2007 at 8:51 am
it’s a little bit awesome and a little bit repulsive that you are sharing that photo with us. i love to hear when recipes are totally NOT how they seem in cookbooks…
but that looks so disgusting! i can’t believe josh ate that!!! is it because Isabella ate all his thai food?!!! hahahahaha!
Lisa October 30th, 2007 at 9:09 am
I would SO NOT have eaten that, bravo Josh-o!
The big announcement is finally up at my blog!
ali October 30th, 2007 at 9:13 am

your hubby must really love you to eat that, mine would have taken one look at it and flat out refused (he’s like that)
Cyndi October 30th, 2007 at 9:45 am
He is such a cutie with his eyes open. Any smiles yet?By the way, I think you jinxed me because I totally lost my camera! So frustrating. Also, I am doing the one handed typing thing rightnow while nursing.
Kathryn October 30th, 2007 at 9:45 am
You poor thing. Sleep deprevation is the worst! It actually hurts. You are probably sick because the little rascal is sucking out all your vitamins and nutrients AND you aren’t getting any sleep. I’m so sorry. It will get better. Hang in there! In the meantime, do whatever you have to do to get some sleep.
Hope you feel better!
shroom-monkey October 30th, 2007 at 10:37 am
oddly I followed your lead with the cookbook… my monkeys are lil veggie eaters now…. I have made a ton of the recipes- try the chicken nuggets with the broccoli- mine loved em… and we have made every muffin/cupcake recipe with much success- although add more sugar… her recipes really lack the sweetness that is needed to say cover the taste of broccoli in gingerbread… but other than that, I am lovin it… I spent all last week roasting squash and stuff and freezin it up… ohh and the carrots in the taco meat totally work… ummmm I don’t know what the heck you made…. that looks wierd!
LoriD October 30th, 2007 at 11:56 am
What happened to that recipe? Josh-O is much more charitable than I would have been!
Love the pic of the Monkey sleeping in the doorway.
Jennie October 30th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
I liked yesterday’s post, even though it was a little disjointed. But it’s always nice to see someone’s other side. I lurve your new camera.
JD October 30th, 2007 at 1:43 pm
I made the chickpea chocolate chip cookies today and I think they turned out pretty good. I was a little worried since the dough is a little strange but I managed to gobble up two of them quite quickly!! Hope you get some sleep!
allie October 30th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
YOUR BOY!!!!!!!!! omg! he is the most precious little boy I have ever seen – love him!!!
and those little green things?? Those kinda look – sorry – ewwww! Did they taste half bad???
Life is hectic…but I’m alive, so that is good eh?
Take care today!!
lauraldawn October 30th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
The Rascal is adorable!!!
Your tofu nuggets … not so much.
Kara October 30th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
Love it. The Rascal’s eyes are HUGE! Beautiful. I think your tofu nuggets look great. Then again, I think all green food looks great because it looks healthy.
BlondeBlogger October 30th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
Hey, Haley! I’ve missed you! Sorry I haven’t been around….life has been so crazy (I know, I know…wah, wah, wah…it’s not like I have a new baby or anything, but it is still crazy, lol).
Hey, I did get a new puppy and she IS keeping me up all night. But I’m not breastfeeding her so I guess I can’t complain! :) (Wouldn’t that be weird!)
Hope you get over that cold soon! I love your new little man…he is so precious!
Renee October 30th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
You’re recipe reminded me of something I saw Rachel Ray make on her show yesterday…she was doing Halloween food. Your recipe looked like the Gobblin bread…she took italian bread and smeared it with spinach & lots of garlic & cheese…then toasted it under the broiler. she also made wheat pasta with pumpkin sauce. the pumpkin sauce looked like my pumpkin soup…so I’ll have to try that pasta.
Yay on the camera.
Goofball October 30th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
yippeee there are pictures again. There is Rascal, wow with huge eyes.
Love your floor by the way.
And the tofu doesn’t look that bad….just not like the first picture at all ;).
Drea October 30th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
gotta love a new camera. and yes blogs need 2 be honest! so no apologies, are you crazy ;-) love the photo of monkey and rascal.
The Phoenix October 30th, 2007 at 9:54 pm
Holy shitzu, get some sleep. Wow. I never saw food glow in the dark before!
Dina October 30th, 2007 at 10:41 pm
Yay for the camera! Gross nuggets! The rascal is SO cute, isn’t it great, how alert they are now?
FYI, I’m also typing one handed while nursing. Little girls are obviously nicer to their mommies than little boys; Julia sleeps from 1am to 6 or 7 am, everyday! I’m so happy. Sleep deprivation sucks!
Hope you get over that cold without passing it on to the baby!
Take care!
Shoeaddict October 30th, 2007 at 11:51 pm
Look how big his eyes are… WOW!! Just checking in to make sure all is well.
Chelle Y. October 31st, 2007 at 11:08 am
I don’t blame the monkey for not eating it! :)
Green Eyed Girl October 31st, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Man, he is so cute!! Glad you got a new camera so we can see more pictures.
