Guess what I have playing OVER AND OVER in my head?
Give up?
Well, I don’t blame you for not guessing it right because it’s not a song.
No. It’s a FREAKING SENTENCE. In a FREAKING FRENCH ACCENT:
“If you wish to see the chef, you will have to wait until all the other customer have gone.”
OVER AND OVER…and OVER my HEAD!
Of course, it’s from my monkey’s favourite movie, Ratatouille, WHICH we have watched almost every day since we got it. We got it some time in December.
“Anton Ego is just another customer. LEZ COOK!”
ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!

It won’t stop!
A-NY-WAY. I can still talk to you, even though I have Collette babbling away in my head….

So, this weekend? Some interesting things transpired.
I drank my first Starbucks Chai Tea Latte of 2008…. Yes I did. I had it with soy milk — mmmm….so creammmy and sweet! Why am I not freaking out at myself in my usual self-denigrating style? Because I’m happy about it.
Once a week, Gorgeouses. I’m allowing myself my favourite thing in the whole world once a week. Because this diet thing sucks. Yes, BECAUSE this diet thing sucks, I’m allowing myself one day a week to have my favourite things. And, that day would be Saturday.
So, this Saturday, I sipped my chai in a new way: savouring every single little sip! I enjoyed my favourite Italian grilled vegetable sandwich. And, I munched on my favourite Sunspire Sundrops (the all-natural edition of M&Ms). Mmmmm….

I also mixed all these treats with a healthy dose of speed walking (not the geeky kind), and a healthy, home-cooked dinner. Check it…CHILEH:

That looks a bit like vomit, doesn’t it…. Well, it tasted better than it looks. Josh-O and the monkey loved it. So there!
I also bought a pilates DVDV (as the monkey calls it…hee!). We’ll see how that goes.

And, in other news….
Today, at a 9:30am birthday party (thankyouverymuch), I resisted THIS:

And, instead had this:

How very, very boring of me.

Hmph…, cheaty little monkey….

“If you wish to see the chef, you will have to wait until all the other customer have gone.”

Can I just say… Thank you!
Good for you for indulging in your favourites, glad you were able to enjoy them.
I still haven’t seen that movie, but I have wanted to for a while, have to send dh to the video store!
So glad I haven’t bought that rat movie, I had the hardest time watching it, the rats running around the kitchen made me gag. ick.
Renee January 14th, 2008 at 1:25 am
I’m gonna have to get DD that movie as we enjoyed it so much we saw it twice in the theaters. I hope I don’t get french accents stuck in my head. LOL
I’m glad that you enjoyed your tea…tea is a good thing. And everything in moderation is fine.
I haven’t seen the Elizabeth movie yet…although I’ve read some really good books about her. LOL
Hate the swimsuit on that guy, but oy does he have a nice body.

You know, I had to watch that movie from behind my fingers because of my rodent phobia. Lucky for me, my kids didn’t get it for a gift over the holidays!
Saturday is my diet cheat day, too! :)

I totally think that indulging once a week is a good thing! Honestly, I do. If you deprive yourself too much, you’ll find yourself falling off the bandwagon sooner than you would like–or is that just how it works with me?
Funny, I just saw those all natural M&Ms for the first time this week when I went into a store to buy SALBA (have you tried it? You know you want to!)
I’m not sure I would have had the same self control as you did with the cake–good for you!

I think indulging in your favorites, I do the same thing, although I do it on Sunday (gotta be able to much a bit during football games….lol)
Oy, Ratatouille, I just saw this movie this past weekend for the 1st time with my best friend’s kids, I loved it the 1st time we watched it, but after the 2nd and 3rd times (in 1 day) I was hearing the French accents as well….haha

Good call on the weekly chai!I tend to do that with lattes. Mmmm …
Our movie of choice right now is Peter Pan. Matt kills me because he sits giggling whenever Captain Hook comes on. Mike and I both laugh because he’s so hilarious about it.
And then when it’s over he renames all his cars people from the movie.

I am impressed that you resisted that cake! Sounds like you’re doing great!
Adele January 14th, 2008 at 10:27 am

My cheaty little girl is obsessed with “The Little Mermaid” So I get the song- Kiss the Girl stuck in my head, where it plays over and over… I even break out in chorous while cleaning, it’s quite funny really.

A birthday party at 9:30? How cruel. The fruit looks good though, except how ripe what that melon, really, in January?
Jenifer G. January 14th, 2008 at 11:57 am
I am stuck on the 9:30am birthday party. That is early! I agree about the latte, I allow myself one treat coffee a week too. A girl has to live.
ali January 14th, 2008 at 1:01 pm

joscelyn January 14th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Way to go on turning down that cake! I would not have been able to do such a thing…no matter how tasty the fruit looked!
Redneck Mommy January 14th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Not a cake lover so I’d take the fruit. Yummy.
But what is more yummy, fresh fruit of Daniel and Clive….
I’m going with the boys…
jasmine January 14th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Congratulations for treating yourself to your beloved Chai tea latte Haley-O! You give yourself a far better dieting chance if you allow yourself this yummy reward at the end of the week for being so good the rest of the week. Mmmmm… creamy soy milk!
Lindz January 14th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
You are tres strong. Cake is le worst at denying. Chais, close second mostly because I refuse not to drink them. And FYI I should be at the gym right now but instead I am in my sweats, doing this because I am LE TIRED. A bientot mon cherie.

[...] I decided that the Once-A-Week Cheat should also be the Once-A-Week ME. On this one day a week, Saturday, I come first. Or, AT LEAST [...]
