There’s, like, NOTHING the Monkey wants to do. But, she keeps asking me for a treat: “I wan a treat, Momma!” Problem is, I don’t have any treats in the pantry. I’m pretty sure a little birdie ate the organic cookies I bought yesterday, or this guy….

So, I’ve been trying to make cookies. Trying.

Alas, I think it’s time I admit: I CANNOT BAKE COOKIES.

Every time I try, it’s a disaster. It started off great with wooden spoon and EVERYTHING! I felt so…16th century (LOVE) — except for the stainless steel bowl….

But, then, it all fell apart. I tried to roll the batter into balls, and it crumbled in my hands…. I added oil to it. Made it worse….

In all fairness, though, as the baking went along, Rascal started increasingly to kvetch until he was in full-out WAILING mode. My relaxing wooden-spoon baking zone turned into a maddening, shrill zone of frustration — to put it mildly — for which I had no patience whatsoever.

I gave up. Gave Monkey a Larabar , and put Rascal and Monkey in the double stroller, and turned up my ipod to full blast. Mama needed to air out….

How are you at baking cookies? Anyone else have this cookie curse? Anyone have a good, easy, HEALTHY recipe to share?? LOVE….
